This significant 1914 heritage school was renewed by seismically upgrading the existing structure and facade and replacing the interior partitioning, mechanical and electrical systems. It accommodates 350 students; 60 kindergarten students and a 15% area increase for an NLC component. This additional area enables the school to accommodate a childcare/after school care centre and an enlarged gymnasium.

The new design reorganizes the layout within the school to better accommodate current and future educational requirements. Proper distribution and efficient use of natural lighting improve the overall quality of the learning environment.

The work also restores the heritage facades and windows to their original condition. Removal of a non-heritage addition allowed for the construction of a new wing that houses the library, administration and gymnasium. The new three-storey entrance atrium provides clear way-finding and accommodates many legacy elements collected during 100 years of school history.

The school was awarded the City of North Vancouver Heritage Award, the 2014 Heritage BC Award, and achieved LEED Gold Certification.
