Campbell River Downtown Study
Completion date: 2005
Overview
This study explored options for introducing multi-family residential buildings to Campbell River’s waterfront and downtown core. Its goal was to establish recommendations and guidelines that would encourage redevelopment, and integrate commercial, residential, civic, and cultural uses to create a vibrant, friendly, and safe downtown area. The study explored ways of redesigning a large central surface parking lot and surrounding commercial blocks to develop a community open space.
The DA Difference
DA developed an urban design concept that included a variety of architectural expressions and pedestrian amenities. It provided the client group and other interested parties with a vision of the role multi-family complexes would play in a redeveloped and more diverse downtown core.
