Elsie Roy Elementary School

The Yaletown sea-wall setting of this 300 student elementary school is unique.  Located in a high-density urban neighbourhood of residential, retail, and public spaces, it adjoins a childcare facility overlooking False Creek adjacent to David Lam Park.

Our design respects and alludes to the industrial history of the pre-Expo 86 Roundhouse Neighbourhood, incorporating heritage elements such as heavy timber at the entrance.  The building has become a focal point of the community as the neighbourhood attracts young families.
