This 25-storey building is the densest and most complex project in the Bayshore Gardens. It accommodates multiple uses including market and non-market housing, a childcare centre and street-front retail. The non-market component is the Vancouver Performing Arts Lodge, a non-profit organization that provides much needed housing for people who have worked in the Theatre Arts. To support their many programs, a multipurpose performance space was provided on the seventh floor adjacent to their roof gardens.
The Childcare is owned and operated by the Vancouver Society of Children’s Centres and accommodates 49 children. The centre was designed in accordance with the high standards outlined in the City of Vancouver Childcare Guidelines.
The building design creates a strong street-wall along Cardero Street and Bayshore Drive. It also forms a gateway expression at the entrance to the Bayshore Gardens, setting the thematic tone for the rest of the development.
