The Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House has served the residents of East Vancouver since 1964. The success of the program has led to replacing the aging building with a much larger state-of-art neighbourhood house. The new facility will support an expanded Adult Day Program, a 37-capacity childcare and a variety of community support activities.

In consultation with multiple stakeholder groups, the design is welcoming, flexible and reflects the diverse cultures of the neighbourhood. The three-storey building is sculpted to relate to the single-family housing surrounding the centre, as well as to maintain a pedestrian scale. It is slated to achieve LEED gold certification to be rated a low-carbon building.

The series of sloped and flat roofs create a dynamic and static relationship between the building and its users.
