This project converted an existing 32 storey hotel into a rental residential building and boutique hotel.  It required a rezoning to allow for the change in use as well as a Development Permit.

Previously known as the Coast Plaza Hotel and Conference Centre, the interior spaces within the tower were renovated into 316 rental residential units.  The podium, which hosted the conference centre, was demolished and in it’s place a new structure was erected to create 65 garden guestrooms. The existing building also contains an at-grade shopping centre that remained open during the renovation.

The project proved to be technically complex as it required extensive negotiations with the City’s Building and Engineering Departments, in addition to the challenges posed by hidden conditions while upgrading a half-century old building.
