This expands the existing temple complex that opened in 2002 respecting traditional temple planning principles. By incorporating the existing temple into the formal Buddhist Temple traditional geometry, we accommodate current demands and anticipate future needs of the community. The open courtyards, covered walkways and variety of building sizes and heights provide a varied and exciting pedestrian experience and exhibit the complexities and intricacies of this historical religious expression.
The careful siting and landscape treatment provide a welcoming and interesting streetscape along the “Highway to Heaven” in Richmond.
"This project was interesting on many levels. It was fascinating and educational to see how this religious institution can provide so many supportive cultural activities to its congregation and general public. And it also provided a valuable and meaningful glimpse into the ancient religion and philosophy of Buddhism."
