Vancouver College is a K-12 Catholic boy’s school established in 1922 in the Shaughnessy neighbourhood of Vancouver. This major campus expansion accommodates state of the art science classrooms, a super lab, and a 224-seat theatre. A second gymnasium, a weight room, and an aerobic equipment room have also been included.
DA created an architectural expression that reflects a renewed school image, yet sympathetic to the existing school architecture. The new gymnasium was placed between the existing gymnasium and the existing grandstand to provide an interconnected twinned facility suitable for tournaments. The handsome brick Holler Family Science Centre faces Hudson Street. It has a timeless quality which blends in with the other buildings on the campus.
